Vivid Sydney Festival

Light – Music – Ideas for 18 Days

Every May and June

What is it?

  • Vivid Sydney started out in 2009 as a little idea to boost winter business in central Sydney and is now one of the city’s biggest success stories and the largest event of its kind in the world attracting 1.5 million attendees each year. Vivid Sydney is owned and managed by Destination NSW, the NSW Government’s tourism and major events agency.

Light

  • Each winter, the world’s best designers and artists transform the city of Sydney.
  • Stunning images are projected on the Sydney Opera House,  colored lights on the Harbour Bridge, and people can play with interactive light sculptures throughout the city centre, while experiencing great music and listening to inspiring talks.

Music

  • Vivid’s cutting-edge music program covers everything from indie, pop and rock concerts through to classical orchestras – previous big names include The Pixies, Pet Shop Boys and Lauryn Hill. The gigs take place in venues ranging from intimate subterranean spaces through to the grand Sydney Opera House Concert Hall.

Ideas

  • Vivid Ideas is the Asia Pacific’s annual celebration of the creative industries. The expert-talks cover fashion, design, film, animation, architecture, games, digital media,

business and more.
